 The RCDC at Haywood Community College is a Five Star Rated Child Care Center

Haywood Community College through its program in Education provides several programs for the professional preparation of teachers and childcare professionals. Both traditional and on-line courses are available. For a list of on-line opportunities see Distance Learning.

PROGRAM CREDENTIAL PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
B-K AGE Program AGE In the B-K AGE Degree Program a student completes the necessary general education requirements for transfer to any of the instructions University of North Carolina System and the set of prerequisite courses required by Western Carolina University in its Birth-Kindergarten BS degree program.
Early Childhood Associate AAS The intent of the Associate in Early Childhood Education Program is to provide students with the skills necessary for a career in child care and development. This program includes the prerequisite courses required by Western Carolina University in its Birth-Kindergarten BS degree program and additional course work in early childhood education.
Early Childhood Education Certificate The Certificate in Early Childhood Education provides a foundation for work in childcare and child development.
Teacher Associate AAS This program prepares individuals to work with children from infancy through middle childhood in diverse learning environments. Students combine learned theories with practice in actual settings with young children under the supervision of qualified teachers.
Educational Assisting Diploma This program provides forty-eight semester hours of coursework designed to prepare students for employment in the public schools as a paraprofessional under Title I of the "No Child Left Behind Act." Under the provisions of the act paraprofessionals hired after January 8, 2002, must successfully complete a testing option, have 48 semester hours of college credit, or an associate degree.
Educational Assisting Certificate The Certificate in Educational Assisting provides a foundation for work in an elementary school setting.
Customized Major AGE A student can significantly customize their program through enrollment in the Associate in General Education degree program.
